Checked 8 September 2026: Canva for Education is free for eligible K-12 teachers, their students and qualified schools or school systems. It is an eligibility programme, not a public coupon code.
Who can access Canva Education?
Canva states that the programme is for active primary and secondary educators, K-12 students invited by their teacher or school, and qualified institutions. It is not currently the standard Canva Education programme for colleges and universities; higher education should check Canva for Campus instead.
What is included?
Eligible education users can access premium design features and classroom-focused tools, including educational templates, class collaboration and assignment workflows. A school administrator may control some services and settings.
How verification works
- Start at Canva’s official Education page.
- Use a genuine school email address where possible.
- If required, upload accepted evidence of your active teaching status or the institution’s accreditation.
- Wait for Canva’s verification decision before inviting students.
- Students should join through their eligible teacher or school invitation.
Important eligibility limits
- Availability is for K-12 education, not a general free Canva Pro offer.
- Private tutors, parents, and most higher-education users are not eligible for this programme.
- Canva can require re-verification; its guidelines say users are prompted every three years.
- Do not submit someone else’s school documents or create an account using an address you are not authorised to use.
Our verdict
For eligible primary and secondary classrooms, Canva Education is a strong no-cost option for visual learning and classroom collaboration. The key is accurate verification: anyone outside the K-12 programme should compare Canva Free, Canva Pro or Canva for Campus directly instead.
